Spreading Joy, One Bouquet at a Time: The Flower Power Initiative at Renaissance Center Nashville

Volunteers at the Renaissance Center showing off their beautiful bouquets.

At the Renaissance Center, we believe that community connection and small acts of kindness have the power to transform lives. That belief is beautifully embodied in one of our most heartwarming volunteer programs of 2025: the Flower Power initiative.

Each week, volunteers from our Senior Activity Center in Nashville gather to give new life to donated flowers—transforming them into vibrant, handcrafted bouquets. These are then hand-delivered to facilities serving individuals in need of emotional support, offering a moment of unexpected beauty and connection. Whether it’s a hospice patient, a veteran, or a senior in assisted living, every bouquet carries the message: “You are not forgotten.”

A Blooming Effort with Big Impact

Thanks to a generous partnership with a local wholesale flower retailer, fresh blooms are donated weekly and picked up every Thursday. Volunteers—who are participants at our Active Adult Center—come together to trim stems, arrange flowers, and package them with care.

Since the launch of the Flower Power project earlier this year, we’ve delivered hundreds of bouquets to local organizations including Alive Hospice, Mary Queen of Angels Assisted Living, and the VA Tennessee Valley. Each delivery brings smiles, tears, and heartfelt stories—proving just how much simple gestures can mean.

Want to Get Involved? Here’s How You Can Help

Flower Power isn’t just about flowers—it’s about fostering community engagement for seniors and providing meaningful ways to give back. There are several ways you can participate:

  • Exercise your creativity by helping arrange bouquets

  • Assist with setup or cleanup

  • Support the atmosphere by playing music, offering refreshments, or simply sharing a smile

Do you have extra vases collecting dust? We gladly accept donations of vases to help keep this project blooming. Every contribution makes a difference.
