Renaissance Center Thrift Shop

The Renaissance Center Thrift Shop is dedicated to enriching the lives of Nashville’s seniors while serving our local community. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we provide affordable, high-quality secondhand goods, with all proceeds supporting programs and activities that promote social engagement, wellness, and lifelong learning for seniors.

Donations of personal items to our Thrift Shop can be made during our normal hours Monday-Friday, 9am - 12pm. However, one Saturday a month, we open our Thrift Shop so that folks who are busy during the week can have an opportunity to come in and shop, too!

Fabulous Finds

Sometimes, you’ll find some small furniture for purchase at Renaissance Center. I was glad to be around when this 1950’s wooden chair with a yellow ochre cushion came out of the sorting room and hit the floor. It sits in the corner of my bedroom, and miraculously enough, I don’t heap laundry on it because it enhances the space (and is also comfortable!) One of the best $10 dollars I’ve ever spent.

One of my favorite household items I’ve found at the Renaissance Center Thrift Store is my red and white gingham lamp. It enhances the space and garners so many compliments. I actually purchased the shade at Renaissance Center for $3 in July and sure enough, I also found the base at Renaissance Center for $8 just a few months later. While it looks near perfect as is, I may paint the base an accent color to add even more personality.

This pink silk top was on a sale rack for $4 (a steal from the $60 market price). I initially bought it because I loved the cut; fitted and slightly cropped so it doesn’t swallow an outfit. Only after I made the purchase did I learn it is 100% silk and will likely last a lifetime (as long as I follow the wash and dry instructions!)

These cream-colored linen pants are versatile, comfortable, and a closet staple; I incorporate these into an outfit at least twice a week. Best of all, they are a no-wrinkle linen that straightens out in a dry cycle… very important when you don’t like hauling out the ironing board.

And finally, the most miscellaneous (and handy) item found at Renaissance Center: a portable purse hook complete with a makeup mirror– wonderful for any dining-out experience. I am not a purse carrier, so it was a gift for a friend. She recently went on a trip to New York City and said that this purse hook was a huge asset when traveling (and she loved telling everyone she found it at a thrift store for $1).
