Navigating a legal problem can be overwhelming.  This presentation will introduce the Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services (TALS), a statewide non-profit organization working to strengthen the delivery of civil legal help to vulnerable Tennesseans, and the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands (LAS), a non-profit law firm whose mission is to enforce, advance and defend the legal rights of low income and vulnerable people in order to obtain for them the basic necessities of life.

We’ll briefly explain how TALS and LAS fit into Tennessee’s broader access to justice network and then focus on the resources available directly to Tennesseans, including the free legal help LAS provides to people in 48 counties as well as the legal information and limited scope legal assistance provided by TALS through its website (HELP4TN.org), online legal clinic (TN.FreeLegalAnswers.org), and free legal helpline (844-HELP4TN).  We’ll also highlight other free and low-cost legal resources available to seniors.

Participants will leave with a better understanding of where seniors can turn when they have a legal problem and how to connect with the right resource.
