In the Spirit of Giving: Renaissance Center Partners with Cockrill Elementary

Pariticpants preparing holiday dontaions and wrapping paper for Cockrill Elementary.

At Renaissance Center Nashville, community isn’t just something we talk about - it’s something we build together. This season, we’re proud to celebrate one of our favorite neighborhood partnerships with Cockrill Elementary School, located just down the road in West Nashville.

Each year, Cockrill Elementary turns kindness into a holiday tradition with its “Giving Store” - a magical little shop where students can choose three gifts to give to their family or friends. It’s a simple idea that creates big smiles and even bigger lessons in gratitude.

💛 Supporting the Giving Store

This year, Renaissance Center helped fill the shelves of the Giving Store by delivering over 92 boxes of donations - everything from wrapping paper and holiday décor to mugs, candles, journals, and board games. These small treasures will soon become meaningful gifts in the hands of young givers.

But our impact doesn’t stop at donations - RenCen volunteers will also be joining students as they wrap more than 900 gifts for 300 children over two special days in December. 🎁

✨ Why It Matters

Programs like this remind us of what the holidays are truly about - sharing joy, giving thanks, and coming together as neighbors. When students experience the pride of giving, they discover their own power to make someone’s day brighter. And that’s exactly the kind of confidence and kindness our community needs more of.

🙌 Want to Help?

We’d love your help spreading the spirit of giving!
We’re looking for volunteers to join us for one of three wrapping shifts at Cockrill Elementary:

📅 Thursday, December 4 — 10:30–11:30 a.m.
📅 Friday, December 5 — 10:30–11:30 a.m.
📅 Friday, December 5 — 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

If you’d like to lend a hand, stop by Renaissance Center by November 25th to sign up.

🎄 A Community That Gives Together

Our partnership with Cockrill Elementary is more than a holiday event - it’s a reflection of what makes West Nashville special. Together, we’re showing that community giving isn’t just about what we give, but how we show up for each other.
