Remembering Judy Redmond

Judy Redmond

July 13, 1943 — January 21, 2023

Judith Ann Redmond—known to all as Judy—was a lifelong resident of West Nashville and a proud Cohn High School graduate. For more than fifteen years, she devoted her heart and energy to the Senior Renaissance Center (SRC) as Director and Activities Coordinator, while also remaining active in coordinating Cohn High alumni events.

Judy was the soul of SRC. She ran the center almost single-handedly, rarely missing a day, leading chair exercise classes, producing monthly newsletters for over 200 participants, and preserving cherished traditions such as the $5 Pancake Breakfast fundraisers. She believed the center was a sanctuary—a place of connection, comfort, and belonging for seniors.

Never meeting a stranger, Judy welcomed everyone with warmth and kindness. Her “I can do it” spirit, compassion, and leadership continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.

We honor Judy’s memory each year on January 21st, with this year marking the third anniversary of her passing. Her legacy lives on at the Renaissance Center.

When you visit, we invite you to pause at Judy’s Wings of Welcome Shelf, a collection of porcelain songbird figurines gathered in her memory.

Songbirds symbolize comfort, hope, renewal, and an enduring spiritual connection—much like the legacy Judy left behind.

We proudly carry on Judy’s work and spirit at the Renaissance Center.
